Meet our Design Engineer Matthew!

Meet our Design Engineer Matthew!

Matthew started at Polybush back in August 2017 and has designed around 40* bushes so far!

Matthew studied both Motorsport Engineering and Automotive Technology at Staffordshire University where he scored himself a 1st Class ?! The Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) Survey has since shown that graduates of Staffordshire Uni are among the most employable in the UK and we certainly don’t disagree, we snapped Matthew up! Throughout his time at university Matthew studied the diverse and complex world of motorsport and automotive engineering and gained invaluable experience that has given him the ability to analyse complex automotive systems and create bespoke solutions when faced with problems.

Matthew usually kicks off new product design by getting under vehicles, so we’ll often see him disappear with his Vernier and inspection mirror in hand and return to the office later with a notebook full of measurements… From here Matthew will take to Solidworks where the design process really begins. Drawings will be created using fully accurate and detailed CAD models in order for moulds to be manufactured for test bushes. Polybush are proud to have worked on some very unusual vehicles and during these unique projects, Matthew has always played a big part getting to know both the vehicles and their owners.

Matthew is a great asset to the team and we are sure you will agree if you have worked with him! We asked him a couple of questions so you could get to know the regular out-of-work Matthew and see what he gets up to!

So, Matthew... Do you have a fondest memory?

“Starting Polybush of course.. ?. Apart from that, the birth of my first child followed by graduating University with a 1st Class!”

What three words would you use to describe yourself?

“I like to think I’m humble, dedicated and honest”

What do you get up to outside of work?

“I am part of Shropshire falconry club who currently care for over 70 birds of prey. We often complete displays all over the country where people can have a hands-on experience with these amazing birds. It really is an honour to work so closely with these immense creatures”.
