At the LRO Peterborough show, Polybush hosted a live! workshop build
During the two day show, the 109in Land Rover chassis was transformed with a complete chassis swap, complete with axles, engine, gearbox and our Polybush Land Rover Kit 4.
Our Poly bushes are designed to improve handling precision, ride quality and prolong tyre life for a wide range of Land Rovers, whilst benefitting from a simple fit that even your kids can do, which was even demonstrated at the show!
The build was a fantastic achievemnet by Gary and the Mannic Mechanics along with the Polybush team, it is always extraordinary to see iconic classic Land Rovers being restored back to their former glory, with the addition of some new bushes to help it gain new life.

Another outstanding year for the Classic Motor Show, huge congratulations to the organisers for making it the best year yet, and to the visitors who made the show what it is today.

Did you see Practical Classics restore the Jaguar e-type? Although they never quite managed to drive it off the live stage, it was still a great achievement (especially with our Polybushes on board). This is a great classic car being restored by an even better team and we were proud to support this build and special thanks to Matt and the team for giving us a few shout outs along the way!
From being at this year’s show we have found there were a couple of common misconceptions that the classic market has for Polybushes which can be seen below:
Myth Busters!
Polybushes make your ride harder.
Not at all, all of our bushes are manufactured so they match the original shore hardness of the rubber bushes that were placed on the vehicle in the factory, so although at first, they may seem hard, this is because it is restoring the suspension alignment to its original specification. We offer comfort or performance bushes depending on what use you have for your vehicle, from off-roading to racing.
Polybushes are made using injection moulding.
No, all of our Polybushes are made using a Dispensed cast with cure, this showcases not only the quality of our materials, but also the end products.
The problem with injection moulding is this often produces cheap and low grade PU products. In order to produce PU products using injection moulding, a company will need to purchase a pre-made PU in granular form, in order to melt it down and inject the liquid PU into a mould under high pressure. As this material can be melted and recast, this means that this PU has very short carbon chains as well as weak electrostatic forces holding the material together, ultimately resulting in a weaker product.
At Polybush all of our castings are made from dispensed cast PU that is always cured to get the most out of the material. Polybush material will outperform any non-cured/injection moulded PU in any loaded application. The mechanical properties of Polybush manufactured PU makes it an ideal material for vehicle suspension bushing due to its ability to withstand high loading and resistance to compression set, producing a bush with an extremely long service life.
Did you catch the latest issue of Land Rover Monthly?
In July 2019 we had the pleasure of working with Steve Miller from Land Rover Monthly at the Kelmarsh Land Rover show. We did a live stage restoration of his Land Rover defender 90 (pre-1993 model).
We faced ourselves with a big challenge on the day, not only did we have to kit out his beloved Land Rover with all new Polybushes, but also convert it from hardtop to soft top in just one weekend!
Once again Garry and the Mannic Mechanics rose to the challenge and not only got all of the restoration completed during the show but it drove out of our Polybush theatre beautifully on the final day, there is no doubt Steve was thrilled with the result.

Did you catch the April issue of Practical Classics? See Danny’s great staff saga on fitting Polybushes to his beloved Triumph TR7?
Danny’s TR7 deserved some much needed TLC, with its original rubber bushes no longer fit for purpose; it was the ideal time to restore the suspension back to its factory feel by fitting Polybush, and revolutionising his drive.
After fitting the Dynamic Orange kit 31, Danny commented: ‘The kit was easy to fit, and once fitted, allowed me to diagnose the car’s other handling and ride issues on a whole new level! The work in progress never ends!’

Bump stops are a critical but often overlooked component of a vehicle’s suspension system. Their main job is to act as a protective cushion that prevents the suspension from compressing too far when driving over bumps, potholes, or carrying heavy loads.
When suspension reaches its maximum compression, bump stops absorb the remaining force and prevent metal-to-metal contact, which could otherwise damage the chassis, suspension arms or shock absorbers.
Without properly functioning bump stops, repeated bottoming out can lead to costly suspension damage and reduced ride comfort.

A wishbone bush is a rubber component that is fitted between most suspension parts. They ensure that there is no metal-to-metal contact. It moreover, controls the amount of movement within these joints. Wishbone bushes are vital to the safety of your car, steering, and handling. Over time these bushes wear, and this is a common reason for MOT failures and increased tyre wear.
Wishbones allow the absorption of shocks from the road by allowing the wheel to move up and down, whilst remaining stable, these control arms work with the shock absorbers and springs to absorb sharp movements from uneven road surfaces. These control arms are present in two common forms of suspension systems; the MacPherson strut and a double-wishbone system. Double wishbone suspension systems are popular on high-performance cars, where control is vital for tight cornering.
The MacPherson Strut is a simple independent suspension design used by most mainstream car manufacturers around the world, normally on the front suspension. It’s based around a basic triangular design in two parts; a control arm and a MacPherson Strut.
